Rebrick is a new social networking website described as "a bookmarking service" by its creator LEGO.
The social media site enables its members to bookmark online pages, YouTube videos and photographs, rather than people being able to upload content themselves.
Public relations and communications manager at LEGO Andrew Arnold explained this allows internet users to view content that includes links back to the original location.
"When they come to Rebrick, they see all this fantastic content in one place, so they don't have to go running round the entire web trying to find it," he stated.
The concept sounds similar to social networking platform Pinterest, which recently added an app to Facebook Timeline. Pinterest allows members to pin their favourite finds on the internet on their boards, while they can also comment on and 'like' other people's pins, as well as repin posts.
It sounds as though both Rebrick and Pinterest can enable companies to promote their goods on the websites and include links, which will take users back to their own ecommerce platforms.
However, aside from PR gains, businesses that use the networks can also post content they think their customers would find interesting, encouraging engagement and repeated visits to their profiles.
